About me
Hello! My name is Sylvia, and I've been teaching for five years. I speak three languages fluently (Spanish, English, and Portuguese) and I'm passionate about music, art, culture, literature, and science. If you're interested in learning with me, please write to me, and we'll have the opportunity to get to know each other!
About my lessons
My classes combine a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with personalized and well-founded instruction. I believe that learning a language goes far beyond memorizing vocabulary and grammar: it's also about discovering a new way of understanding and experiencing the world. I'm a warm, informal teacher with a great sense of humor. Building genuine connections with my students is very important to me. In fact, many have been studying with me for years, something I attribute to the trusting relationship we develop and my interest in understanding each person's needs, interests, and learning style. Although I follow a structured curriculum, I adapt it to each student rather than expecting everyone to learn in the same way. I combine clear grammar explanations, precise corrections, and plenty of space to develop natural and spontaneous language use. I also usually assign homework to reinforce learning, always ensuring a realistic and sustainable pace. Thanks to my interest in and knowledge of literature, etymology, culture, and science, I love incorporating these topics into my classes. I enjoy explaining not only how a language works, but also why it works a certain way, including its particularities, expressions, and cultural context. Whether you want to develop your conversational skills, explore literature and culture, improve your fluency, or work in translation, I'd love to guide you on this journey!
