About me
Hello! My name is Sylvia and I've been a teacher for five years. I'm fluent in three languages (Spanish, English, and Portuguese) and I love music, art, culture, literature, and science. If you're curious to learn from me, send me a message and we'd love to get to know each other better!
About my lessons
My classes combine a relaxed and welcoming environment with personalized and well-founded teaching. I believe that learning a language goes far beyond memorizing vocabulary and grammar: it's also about discovering a new way to understand and experience the world. I am an approachable, informal teacher with a good sense of humor. I place great importance on building genuine relationships with my students. In fact, many have been studying with me for several years, something I attribute to the relationship of trust we build and my commitment to understanding the needs, interests, and learning styles of each individual. Although I follow a general curriculum, I adapt it to each student, rather than expecting everyone to learn in the same way. My classes combine clear grammatical explanations, precise corrections, and many opportunities to develop a natural and spontaneous use of the language. I also often assign homework to consolidate what we learn, always striving to maintain a realistic and sustainable pace. Thanks to my interest in and knowledge of literature, etymology, culture, and science, I enjoy integrating these topics into my classes. I enjoy explaining not only how a language works, but also why it works in a particular way, exploring its particularities, expressions, and cultural context. Whether you want to develop your conversational skills, explore literature and culture, improve your fluency, or work on translation, I will be delighted to accompany you on this learning journey!
